Patron of the Mohua Marine Trust (MMT), Clive Barker, has made a significant donation to the trust.

On 16 January Clive drove from his home in Blenheim to deliver MMT’s latest acquisition, a Chasing M2 ROV underwater drone.
Clive donated about half the cost of the Chasing M2, its 200m tether, its E-reel and the tablet that is needed to drive the drone. The rest of the money came via a grant from the Lion Foundation, the body that distributes the proceeds of the gaming machines in Takaka’s Telegraph Hotel.

Trust Chair, Gene Klein, says that the drone will eventually be really important to MMT’s reef-ball project.
“Clive has been instrumental in us getting this terrific tool", says Gene.
The photos taken on the day show Patron Clive helping to unpack and assemble the Chasing M2 Drone with Gene and fellow trustee Lex Taylor.

“It will be ideal for assessing the current state of the habitat as well as monitoring the effects of our proposed reef-ball trial. As we move on to our medium-term and long-term goals the drone will be even more important.”
